Deconstruction Art: A Multi-Layered Contextual Architecture

The Deconstruction Art residential space, designed by Steph Lee, offers a unique and innovative approach to architecture and design. With a focus on overlapping and extending light and colors, this project showcases a multi-layered contextual architecture that not only enhances the interior scenery but also acts as a communication bridge between the house and its inhabitants.

One of the standout features of this design is the open style planning for the living room, dining room, and kitchen on the first floor. This open scale creates a spacious field of view and promotes a smooth circulation of space through the use of multi-layer construction. By integrating the completed functions for each area in the building, this design fosters a closer family relationship and enhances the overall functionality of the space.

A key element of the Deconstruction Art design is the use of large L-shaped windows in the living room. These windows not only connect the dining room on the upper storey with the living room on the lower one but also allow plentiful sunlight and a natural green atmosphere to fill the space. The changes in elevation, the extensions between lines and planes, and the diversity of layers in the circulation space all contribute to showcasing the house's simple essence.

With a total interior area of approximately 460 square feet, this project demonstrates the designer's attention to detail and commitment to creating a unique living experience. The use of simple mediums and a low-key color tone creates an understated and elegant attitude, while also maintaining a connection between the unframed scenery and the urban city.

The Deconstruction Art design project, completed in July 2019 and located in Taipei City, Taiwan, required careful consideration of the existing building's conditions. The designer overcame challenges such as strengthening the structures of floors and walls, improving waterproofing treatments, and ensuring sufficient sunlight and smooth airflow. These improvements not only enhanced the overall design but also improved the building's construction.

Recognized for its innovative and practical approach, the Deconstruction Art design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
